We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Robot Mission Behavior team, which is responsible for orchestrating autonomous workflows for robots and related infrastructure.
This role includes technical leadership for distributed robotics/backend systems along with organizational leadership, execution responsibility, and cross-functional collaboration.
The manager will set the technical direction, scale the platform to support various robot types and workflows, and build a high-performing team that can deliver a reliable and customizable mission system at production scale.
Lead the team developing the Robot mission behavior engine and related infrastructure, support hiring and growth
Define technical roadmap and architecture for scalable/customizable workflow orchestration
Develop and operate robust APIs enabling internal teams, customers, and partners to control robot behavior
Establish engineering processes, testing strategy, and release quality standards
Act as the technical escalation point for complex production and field issues
Ensure cross-functional alignment with product, deployment, and robotics teams
Improve delivery predictability, ownership clarity, and long-term maintainability of the platform
Degree in Computer Science or related field in Robotics
Over 5 years of experience in developing backend or robotics systems
At least 2 years of experience in leading engineers (including formal/informal leadership)
Experience with Go, C++, or similar systems languages
Experience designing and operating production-grade APIs
Development experience in a Linux environment
Ability to collaborate and solve problems in a rapidly changing startup environment
Experience with Behavior Trees or robot workflow orchestration systems
Experience working at robotics or autonomous systems companies
Experience with Protobuf/gRPC, REST, GraphQL API design
Experience improving engineering team scaling and release quality processes
