- Provide export counseling and respond to a wide range of trade inquires from U.S. firms seeking to export, as well as requests from the local firms and Korean government/institutions interested in buying U.S. products and service: Responsible industries – aerospace, defense, safety & security.
- Conduct company background checks and prepare due diligence reports for the U.S. companies (in most cases, U.S. defense suppliers) who request due diligence service (International Company Profile) on their current or potential sales partners in Korea; investigation skills and intelligence gathering are needed, and the good understanding of U.S. FCPA is required.
- Assist Bureau of Industry and Security Export Control Officers/Special Agents with the pre-license and/or post-shipment investigations and End-Use Monitoring checks for the U.S. strategic items (U.S. Department of Commerce controlled items) shipped to Korea; identify the importer in Korea, inquire and monitor the shipment of the item, arrange and accompany the interviews, assist with the follow up investigation/checks for the unidentified companies or items.
- Identity and vet distributors, representatives, or join venture candidates for the U.S. aerospace, defense, safety & security firms; dealt with firms seeking partners to export U.S. military platforms, key weapon systems, non-lethal security items, military and civil aerospace products and services, counter-terrorism products, forensic devices, space technology products, cybersecurity programs, and other public/fire security items.
- Investigate and make recommendations for the resolution of complex and sensitive trade complaints (commercial diplomacy cases) and advocacy cases presented by U.S. firms; stay up-to-date in regulatory matters affecting assigned sectors as well as general trade issues, especially with the defense procurement changes and U.S. export control regulations.
- Develop and maintain a wide range of contacts vital to U.S. aerospace, defense, security firms’ interests, including government officials, industry contacts, and trade associations.
- Prepare market studies in assigned sectors, analyzing statistics and trends in trade, production and markets, assuring the maximum degree of accuracy, completeness and reliability in the final report.
- Support U.S. companies participating in various aerospace/defense/safety & security related trade shows in Korea, especially ADEX-Seoul Airshow, and identify the most important trade exhibits in the U.S. (mainly, the SHOT Show) and organizes groups of firms and government officials (DAPA, MND, ROKA, ROK Special Operation Command, Korea National Police, ROK Coast Guard, etc.) to attend them.
