During my time as a research assistant, I continued developing the web application I introduced in my master thesis. The thesis was about a recommender system for hotels, which combined a faceted interface with recommendation algorithms. The faceted interface included facets containing attribute-value-pairs extracted from user reviews. This allowed users to search for hotels in whose user reviews the selected attribute-value pair occurred without having to read it.

In general, my course of studies combines the disciplines of human cognition and computer science. For my master, I chose 'computer science' as specialization. Therefore, I concentrated on conceptualizing and implementing software, but also on designing the human-computer interaction to improve the user experience.
