I researched on perceptual video coding, especially for HEVC, using a pretrained deep convolutional features of VGG-16 network, supervised by Prof. Donggyu Sim. I worked on designing perceptual adaptive QP decision at frame-level, then extended the idea to improve the existing rate control model in HEVC for All-Intra, Low-delay, and Random-access configurations

I researched on Fast encoding of HEVC encoder supervised by Prof. Donggyu Sim. I investigated how to optimize intra prediction by reducing intra prediction modes based on the selected modes from upper CU layer, left, top, and top-right CUs. And the algorithm also tackle the exhausted RDO and RQT problems. In another research, I designed a rate control algorithm for Tile-level rate control which can benefit the tile-level parallelism in HEVC.
