Salt Mine Salt Letter September 2025
The Big Flip Most of us like to walk familiar paths. This is because we can feel safe only when we are in a stable choice, safe calculations, and predictable flow.
However, someone creates moments that break the mold of that familiarity, and that is the moment of 'the Big Flip'. Sometimes the standards we firmly believe in collapse, and the familiar ways can no longer exert their power. In such cases, a Big Flip is necessary.
The Big Flip is not just a small change; it is a complete overhaul. Therefore, while the Big Flip can be frightening, it can also be a powerful opportunity that holds new possibilities.
Looking back at the history of the world, major innovations and leaps have always originated from such Big Flips. The digital revolution was one, and the advent of AI is another. And when you think about it, such Big Flips begin with a single question that arises from discomfort. When the question 'Is this okay as it is?' accumulates, and the curiosity of 'Is there a better way?' grows, we finally gain a new perspective. The moment our viewpoint flips, the possibilities flip as well.
The Big Flip requires courage from us. This is because we have to let go of our existing achievements and leave the familiar and safe places. However, there is a path visible from the flipped table. We see new opportunities in areas others have given up and encounter unexpected growth in choices others feared.
Our Salt Mine has always prepared for this moment of flipping and continues to try. We are creating a world where data is made valuable, data sovereignty is provided, and data is traded safely; this fundamental transition is the time for the Big Flip.
Salt may be small, but it is powerful enough to turn the world upside down. Our Salt Mine is also small, but we believe that our data, our ideas, and our challenges will be the Big Flip that the world needs.
Wishing you to embrace anticipation instead of fear and welcome our Big Flip,
Sincerely, Olive, the Chief Miner
