Rock and Roll Zombies!!!! Trash and Chaossss!!!!

by Christopher Dutrieux

How can I put this movie into words? Simple. I can’t. It is a rare occasion that such a low budget japanese film can actually entertain me for the entire length of the movie. But after I saw an article in Fangoria magazine for this movie and finally getting it in the mail, I was bitch slapped in the face by glorious B-Cinema genius! I was amazed! This film is like a mix of “Dawn of the Dead” (by George Ramero) and “Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park.”

I pray that in time this film will become a cult classic, much like Evil Dead 2. In fact, if you liked Evil Dead 2, you will like this film as well. The story takes off following our hero, Ace, to a concert of his favorite band, Guitar Wolf (consisting of front man Guitar Wolf, bass player Bass Wolf, and, you guessed it, drummer Drum Wolf). And just for the record Guitar Wolf IS a real band. Anyway, after the concert the band goes to the office of the club owner, who has the coolest and scariest tight leather shorts in the entire world! I cannot put into words the sight of this man in these shorts. After a little brawl in the office, Ace and Guitar Wolf (the person, who always carries his guitar with him, stopping only once in the film to tune it) become rock and roll blood brothers.

Then Guitar Wolf gives Ace a whistle that he can blow if he is ever in trouble, and Guitar Wolf will come to save him. Ace later meets up with the leading “lady”, Tobio, whose name Ace screams consistantly throughout the entire film and you wish he would shut the hell up. Ace, Tobio, Guitar Wolf, and a handful of other friends, fight their way through tons of zombies with Super Pants Club Owner hot on their trail. You’ll get zombies, UFOs, exploding heads, motorcycles, live footage of Guitar Wolf shows, a girl who turn out to be a guy, magical guitar picks, and a special surprise from Guitar Wolf’s guitar near the end of the film. And you’ll also learn a lesson about love from Guitar Wolf himself, “Love has no boundries, nationalities or genders!”

Over all, this is one of the best films I have ever seen! Some of you may think I’m an idiot, but with my obscure taste I can’t help but enjoy this B-Cinema Masterpiece! Directed by Tetsuro Takeuchi, a japanese music video director, Wild Zero will be a great addition to your horror collection. Unfortunately, the only place to get this film that I know of is on Ebay.com, and is only available in English subtitles. Trust me, this film is worth every penny you spend on it! The only complaint I have is that all the gore is CGI animated, but the entertainment the film provides more than makes up for it. In conclusion, go buy this film! It has gore, zombies, and Japanese punk. One of the most entertaining Japanese films ever!
